Cell Phone and Internet-Enabled Electronic Device Policy
We are excited to announce our school’s updated Cell Phone and Internet-Enabled Electronic Device Policy, effective September 4, 2025, for a safe, focused, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. This policy aligns with New York State Education Law §2803 and Chancellor’s Regulation A-413. Our goal is to minimize distractions caused by personal internet-enabled electronic devices, enhance student safety, and foster deeper connections and engagement in the classroom and beyond.
Benefits of the New Policy
This “distraction-free schools” initiative is designed to create an optimal learning environment for every student. By reducing reliance on personal devices during the school day, students can:
Improve Focus and Engagement: Concentrate more fully on lessons and classroom activities without the constant interruption of notifications.
Enhance Learning Outcomes: Better absorb information and participate actively in discussions.
Foster Stronger Relationships: Interact more directly with peers and teachers, building meaningful in-person connections.
Reduce Digital Distractions: Minimize the negative impact of social media and other non-academic uses during instructional time.
